The master is the highest authority onboard ship. He shall be primarily responsible for the safe, efficient and economic operations of the ship, and for the safety of crew, vessel and equipment onboard. Has the overall control of shipboard affairs. Has the sole authority to decide to abandon ship.

Specific Duties: Ensure the ship's and crew certificates/documents are valid. Reports are submitted promptly to the head office. Strictly implements navigation procedures. Draws up Ship Maintenance Plan. Authorizes requisition, use and disposition of all materials and cash onboard vessel. Fully familiarize himself with the vessel's Safety Management System (SMS) and make sure that all personnel joining his vessel as crew members are made familiar with the management system, safety requirements, instruction and facilities. Reviews the SMS at least twice a year. Make sure that any updates / amendments / changes on the Shipboard Procedures Manual are imparted to his concerned staff. Motivates the crew in the observance of the policies. Ensures discipline, health and safety of crew. In-charge of briefing of crew on his duties and responsibilities. Ensures that turn over of responsibilities is properly implemented. Evaluates crew performance. Issues appropriate orders in a clear and simple manner, and ensures that all applicable statutory regulations, codes of practices, COMPANY rules and procedures are being followed. Maintains effective communications and working relationships between ship's staff and the company. Fully familiarize himself with the vessel's structure and lay out. To get assistance and advice from the COMPANY in matters he deems needed. Make sure that crewmembers of his vessel possess the right qualifications and documentary requirements as stated in their in their respective job description. See to it that responsible officers are appointed / assigned to do supervisory works on all activities at his shipboard and that proper procedure and instructions are followed. See to it that all instructions, manuals, documents, procedures and other related documentary requisites onboard ship are kept up-to-dated. Ensures that all elements of the Safety Management System (SMS) are complied in accordance with the Company's policies and existing laws. Reports to the COMPANY any defect and other important matter which could affect the safe operation of the vessel or that could be a harmful factor to pollution. Reports and implements corrective actions on accident; near misses and non conformities on board his vessel of which it shall be properly undertaken in accordance with the company's policies. Make sure that all communication lines onboard his vessel is followed and any changes within his shipboard organization must be documented. Make sure that there is cooperation between and among his officers and crew. Ensure that adequate trainings are provided in the proper utilization of safety and emergency equipment. Overall in charge during emergencies.

Qualifications/Requirements: Holds atleast OIC License. With Valid DCOC , MARINA License ID
