Victoria Airport Authority

Director, Facilities & Information Technology

Victoria International Airport (Airport Code: YYJ) is Vancouver Island?s gateway to the world, connecting more than 1.9 million passengers annually to key domestic and seasonal international destinations. Operated by the Victoria Airport Authority, a not-for-profit, non-share capital organization, YYJ plays a vital role in regional connectivity and economic growth. Victoria Airport Authority operates from the homeland of the W?SÁNE? people whose historical relationship to the land continues to this day. YYJ has been recognized as one of BC?s Top Employers annually since 2020. It has also received the Airports Council International award for Best Regional Airport in North America in 2012, 2014, 2020 and 2024.

Since April 1, 1997, the Victoria Airport Authority has managed and operated YYJ on behalf of the surrounding communities, delivering a safe, secure, sustainable, and efficient airport experience. With a bold 20-year master plan and a $580 million infrastructure strategy underway, Victoria Airport Authority is entering an exciting era of growth and modernization - one that will shape the future of air travel on Vancouver Island. This is a rare opportunity to join a high-impact leadership team during a once-in-a-generation expansion.

The Director, Facilities and Information Technology is a strategic, collaborative leader who brings together the oversight of Victoria Airport Authority?s facilities infrastructure and enterprise technology environment. Operating in a complex, safety-critical setting, the Director provides long-term direction for critical systems and assets that support safe, resilient, and efficient airport operations, including passenger processing, baggage handling, building automation, public address systems, and other facilities and IM/IT infrastructure.

The successful candidate will bring strong experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams and managing complex infrastructure portfolios, with a demonstrated ability to establish asset lifecycle strategies, modernization roadmaps, and performance standards. They will combine sound financial and commercial judgement with expertise in capital planning, procurement, contract and vendor governance, business continuity, enterprise risk, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance. Throughout their career, they will have successfully optimized large-scale budgets and led diverse facilities, engineering and tech teams (or multi-talented teams) through multi-million-dollar modernization projects. By unifying physical space with cutting-edge digital platforms, they consistently deliver a safe, resilient, and world-class passenger experience.

Reporting to the Vice President, Planning and Infrastructure the ideal candidate will be a thoughtful and accountable leader who develops capable teams, promotes continuous improvement, and creates alignment across technical and business functions. Experience within an airport authority or another regulated, safety-critical environment is preferred, along with a strong appreciation for the role that reliable facilities and technology infrastructure play in delivering a safe and high-quality passenger experience.

Victoria Airport Authority offers a competitive total rewards package appropriate to this senior leadership position, including a comprehensive employer-paid benefits plan and participation in a defined benefit pension plan (DBPP).
