Lancashire (Hybrid) £75,000 – £90,000 + Excellent Benefits + Career Progression

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing professional services group as a Financial Controller, reporting directly to the CEO. This is a brand new, senior leadership role created to add structure and strategic finance capability to a people led, fast growing firm.

Taking ownership of the internal finance function within a privately held, PE-backed group, you'll play a pivotal role in driving financial performance, supporting strategic decision making, and influencing the future direction of a business with significant growth and acquisition plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the internal finance team, coaching and supporting performance and professional growth.
  • Own the reporting function, monthly management accounts with associated MI, quarterly reforecasting, and annual budgeting.
  • Act as strategic business partner to the CEO, providing insight, recommendations, and action to support BAU activities and strategic decisions.
  • Be the finance representative at monthly site partner meetings and maintain a visible presence across offices.
  • Communicate finance activities to the wider Partner team with appropriate style and clarity.
  • Drive change and continuous improvement, enhance WIP, debt management, utilisation, and fee analysis.
  • Lead local M&A activity (with external FP&A support) due diligence, integration, and post-acquisition finance setup.
  • Involve yourself in systems implementation and continuous improvement across all finance systems and process adoption.
  • Provide commercial support to the Group, identifying risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Set and measure the Group's KPIs and monitor market and business risks.
  • Review and present monthly Board Pack (including initial reconstruction to level up information quality).
  • Update and distribute flash report (WD4) and own WIP, Utilisation, and Fee analysis for Partners.
  • Own the monthly reforecast model (in conjunction with external FP&A partners).
  • Manage loan notes and liaise with senior stakeholders across the business.

About You

We're looking for a technically strong, commercially minded qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA) who enjoys operating in a fast-paced, evolving, people focused environment.

Experience needed:

  • Strong financial control experience within an internal finance team (practice background preferred but not essential).
  • Proficiency in Xero and Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Adobe PDF).
  • Hands-on leadership style, comfortable managing, coaching, and pushing team development.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, confident with CEOs, partners, investors, and senior leaders.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to work in a fast growing, acquisition driven environment.
  • Experience in professional services or accountancy practice environments is highly desirable.
  • A proactive, process improvement mindset someone who improves systems, not just maintains them.
  • Friendly, approachable personality that fits a collaborative, supportive culture.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, high personal integrity, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with strong organisational skills.

If you're looking for a role that combines technical excellence, commercial influence, and the opportunity to make a real impact in a high-growth, people focused professional services business, then this is the role for you.
