Role Summary:

GE Healthcare Bioprocess Software is looking for a (Junior) Software Engineer to work on a number of exciting projects that will have a very positive impact on GE’s business. We are looking for someone that is willing to take on a wide area of software engineering tasks and do not hesitate to learn new areas when needed. This position is even well suited for a recent university graduate looking for first working experience as a Software Engineer.

Essential Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for programming a feature and or a small feature set. You will contribute to the team and works with direction from the Senior Team Members or management but works independently.

In this role you will:

  • Act as a member of the Software department, representing the face of high quality design anddevelopment practices
  • Develop high performing and innovative applications
  • Collaborate with system engineers, front-end developers and software developers to implementsolutions that are aligned with and extend shared platforms and solutions
  • Apply principles of software development and methodologies like Agile, Continuous Integration,Software and Product Security, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques (BDD/TDD)
  • Writes codes that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technologyselected for the project
  • Understand performance parameters and assess application performance

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineeringand Math) or equivalent

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience developing applications for control and monitoring of instrument hardware
  • Experience developing windows and or web- applications (C, C++, C# .NET, Java)
  • Experience with front-end technologies such as WPF, Javascript, HTML5, CSS, etc.
  • Experience with modern tooling (MS TFS/VSTS, Perforce and/or Git)
  • Has the ability to break down problems and estimate time for development tasks
  • Has the ability to make basic technology choices based on experience
