*Job Summary*

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cook to join our childcare team. In this vital role, you will prepare nutritious meals and snacks for young children, ensuring food safety and quality standards are met. Your enthusiasm for food preparation and service will contribute to creating a healthy, enjoyable dining experience that supports children's growth and development. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic early learning environment. The kitchen is a one person operation and the individual must be highly professional, reliable and have a positive demanour. Experience with allergies is important.

*Responsibilities*

  • Prepare and serve balanced, age-appropriate meals and snacks for children in accordance with dietary guidelines and safety standards
  • Follow food handling procedures to ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety at all times
  • Assist with meal planning and food preparation to meet the nutritional needs of young children
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and storing ingredients properly
  • Support the overall food service process by setting up serving areas and assisting with meal distribution
  • Adhere to all health regulations related to food safety and sanitation practices within the childcare setting
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure smooth meal times that promote positive social interactions among children

*Qualifications*

  • Previous experience in food preparation or food service, ideally within a childcare or restaurant environment
  • Knowledge of food handling safety protocols and sanitation standards
  • Ability to prepare meals efficiently while maintaining high quality standards
  • Strong understanding of kitchen operations including cooking techniques and meal assembly
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in food safety practices
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Food industry certifications or training related to food safety are preferred but not required
  • Must have strong baking skills and ability to cook from scratch

Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour
