Copenhagen Balance · Full-time · Onsite in Copenhagen · Offices in Copenhagen and London Most accountants spend their days categorising transactions and chasing receipts. At Balance, that part is done by AI. What’s left is the part of the job that actually needs you: judgement, client relationships and making sure the numbers are right. And you get to shape the AI that does the rest. About Balance Balance is an AI-native accounting firm for startups and growing SMBs, with offices in Copenhagen and London. Our AI agents reconcile, categorise and match documents against the ledger all month long. Our accountants review every entry before it’s booked, close the month and act as the person each client turns to for advice. Clients get real-time, audit-ready books at a flat monthly price. We’re backed by Y Combinator, and Google Ventures led our $4.5M seed round. We’re around 20 people across our two offices, we serve 150+ companies in Denmark and the UK, and we’re growing fast. As we like to put it: the work is automated, the responsibility is not. The role As a Finance Consultant, you own a portfolio of clients from end to end: e-commerce brands, software startups, hospitality and professional services firms. You’re their dedicated accountant and the first person they message when something looks off. You’ll work alongside our AI, not underneath a pile of data entry. Think part controller, part trusted advisor, part product builder. You’ll shape the product, not just use it This is the part of the job you won’t find at a traditional accounting firm. Our engineers sit one Slack message away, and you’re the person who knows what good accounting actually looks like. When Bea, our AI, books something wrong, you don’t just fix it. You explain why, and the next version gets it right for every client.

You’ll spot the edge cases first: the odd marketplace payout, the VAT rule nobody automated, the client whose setup breaks the pattern. Those become the next things we build.

Your feedback ships in days, not quarters. You’ll see your own fixes running across hundreds of companies’ books.

Every Finance Consultant here is helping define what an AI-native accounting firm looks like. That’s an unusual thing to have on your CV. What you’ll do Own your clients’ books. Review and sign off on what our agents book, and be the quality bar before anything reaches the ledger.

Close the month. Run month-end close for your portfolio, and get it done in days, not weeks.

Handle what AI can’t (yet). VAT, management reporting, year-end prep and the odd one-off that doesn’t fit any template.

Be the trusted advisor. Answer the questions founders actually ask, like whether they can afford to hire, why margins dropped, or what happens with VAT if they start selling in Germany.

Make the product better. Work directly with our engineers to turn what you see on the ground into product improvements.

You’ll do well here if You’ve spent a few years in audit, outsourcing or client accounting , at an accounting firm, an outsourcing house or similar. You know bookkeeping and month-end close from the inside.

You enjoy clients , not just spreadsheets. You’d rather explain the numbers than hide behind them.

You spot a mis-booked entry at a glance and can’t leave it alone until it’s fixed.

You’re ambitious and hungry to grow . You’ve worked hard seasons before and want your effort to go into something that’s building, not just maintaining.

You’re into AI . Maybe you’ve already automated parts of your own work or built something with AI tools, and we’d love to hear about it. If you’re simply very curious and eager to learn, that counts too.

You speak and write Danish and English fluently.

Bonus points: HD(R) or cand.merc.aud (finished or in progress), experience with e-conomic, Xero or Business Central, startup or SaaS clients, a side project of your own. What we offer Equity, so you own a piece of what you’re building
