JOB TITLE: Crater / Material Handler 

JOB SUMMARY: The Crater / Material Handler fabricates custom wooden crates and supports shipping operations by safely moving, loading, and staging large equipment. Approximately 50% of the role involves operating a forklift to load and unload trucks, move equipment in and out of shipping bays, and maintain an organized shipping area.

Job Responsibilities: Build wooden crates, skids, and boxes using hand and power tools

Read blueprints and shipping specs to determine crate size and materials

Measure, cut, assemble, and secure products using wood, fasteners, and protective materials

Operate forklifts to load/unload trucks and move large equipment

Move completed crates to shipping or staging areas

Maintain organization of shipping bays and material storage areas

Operate overhead cranes and pallet jacks as needed

Qualifications: Strong communication and teamwork skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment

Ability to complete shipping paperwork accurately

What will put you ahead:

Crating or material handling experience

Forklift experience (certification a plus)

Experience working with wood and large assemblies

Physical Requirements: Stand, bend, squat, and kneel for 8+ hours per day

Frequently lift 50 lbs or more

Tolerate an industrial shop environment

Willing to work overtime as needed
