Location: Cranfield, MK43 (hybrid after training) Contract: Temporary until the end of December Hours: 18 hours per week (flexible on how they worked) Rate: £14.50 + £1.75 Holiday Pay PAYE (£16.25 gross)
A well-established higher education organisation is seeking an experienced Payroll & Pensions Administrator to join its finance team on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional looking for a flexible part-time assignment within a large and complex organisation.
You will play a key role in ensuring payroll and pension processes are completed accurately, compliantly and on time. Working as part of a specialist payroll team, you will be responsible for processing payroll changes, pension calculations, statutory payments and providing expert payroll advice to employees and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and authorise payroll changes, including sickness, maternity and other contractual variations.
- Carry out payroll calculations, including tax, National Insurance and pension deductions.
- Complete pension administration activities for starters, leavers and employee changes.
- Upload and maintain payroll records and supporting audit documentation.
- Provide payroll guidance and respond to payroll and pension-related queries.
- Assist colleagues during peak periods and contribute to meeting payroll deadlines.
Person Specification
- Previous payroll experience, ideally gained within a large and complex organisation.
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation, pensions and statutory payments.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Experience of large payroll systems.
