Training and Organization Developmental Specialist

About the Position: The position manages the Japan Engineer District's civilian training program and supports organizational development initiatives. It advises leaders and employees, coordinates leadership development and training services, and helps the organization improve performance, manage change, and build a strong learning culture.

Major duties

• Manages the district’s civilian training program and ensures training meets organizational needs.
• Advises managers and employees on training, career development, and professional growth opportunities.
• Helps leaders plan and carry out efforts to improve how the organization works and supports employees.
• Leads meetings and workshops that help identify workplace issues, improve performance, and manage change.
• Coordinates leadership development programs, instructors, contracts, and training events.

For the GS-12: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) managing aspects of a training program, such as assessing needs and evaluating effectiveness; 2) assisting with organizational development projects, like strategic planning or team building; AND 3) coordinating with vendors or instructors to provide training. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). *Special Note for Military Members*MILITARY RETIREES: A retired member of the Armed Forces may not be appointed to a civilian position in DoD (including a non-appropriated fund position) within 180 days after retirement [** unless the following conditions have been met: the Secretary concerned authorizes the appointment; or the position is authorized special pay under 5 U.S.C. 5305; or a state of national emergency exists].
