Warehouse & Tanker Operative

Temporary to Permanent Opportunity

We are recruiting an experienced Warehouse & Tanker Operative to join a busy, safety-focused operation supporting the receipt, storage, handling, and despatch of raw materials and finished goods.

Please note, this is not a tanker driver position and no HGV or tanker driving licence is required. However, previous experience loading and unloading tankers and carrying out bulk transfer operations is essential.

This is a temporary ongoing position working 37.5 hours per week , Monday to Friday.

During the initial training and qualifying period, the successful candidate will work:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8:00am – 4:00pm

Following successful completion of the training period and demonstration of competence within the role, employees will move onto the site's rotating shift pattern:

  • 6:00am – 2:00pm
  • 12:00pm – 8:00pm (alternate weeks)

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of packed and bulk materials across the site. A significant part of the role involves the loading and unloading of road tankers , making previous tanker handling experience essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receiving, storing, picking, and despatching finished goods and raw materials.
  • Loading and unloading bulk liquid and/or powder tankers in accordance with site procedures and strict safety regulations.
  • Carrying out tanker transfer operations, including connection and disconnection of loading and unloading equipment.
  • Completing tanker paperwork, transfer records, and associated documentation accurately.
  • Conducting pre-use equipment checks and reporting any defects or issues.
  • Loading and unloading vehicles in line with company and regulatory procedures.
  • Operating Counterbalance FLT and shunter vehicle as required.
  • Ensuring goods are correctly labelled, documented, and stored (SAP experience desirable).
  • Supplying production areas with materials in a timely manner.
  • Supporting stock control activities and stock takes.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised warehouse environment.
  • Liaising with production teams, management, transport providers, and third parties to ensure efficient operations.
  • Working in accordance with all Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental procedures.

Key Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience loading and unloading road tankers.
  • Understanding of tanker transfer processes and associated safety procedures.
  • Valid Counterbalance FLT licence.
  • Experience within a warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or distribution environment.
  • Ability to safely handle both packed and bulk materials.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable completing paperwork and using IT systems.

We are seeking a reliable, safety-conscious individual with a strong warehouse background and hands-on tanker handling experience. As tanker loading and unloading is a critical aspect of this position, candidates must be able to demonstrate previous experience carrying out bulk transfer operations safely and efficiently.
