R&D Manager Senior

Key Responsibilities

As R&D Manager, you will be responsible for shaping the technology vision of IDtech and leading a team of engineers in the development of advanced software and embedded solutions. You will balance hands-on technical leadership with strategic direction, ensuring our products are robust, scalable, and future-proof. You will:

• Define and drive the R&D roadmap in collaboration with Product Management and Leadership.

Lead a team of developers and engineers, mentoring them in modern software practices. Translate complex business requirements into clear architectural designs based on domain driven design (DDD) principles.

• Guide the adoption of microservices architectures and API-first development across the product portfolio.

Ensure efficient containerized deployments and robust DevOps pipelines (CI/CD, Kubernetes, monitoring, automation).

• Oversee the integration of embedded systems and IoT technologies with cloud services.
• Foster a culture of innovation, quality, and continuous improvement.

Skills & Qualifications

We are looking for someone who combines technical expertise with leadership skills: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience. Proven experience in cloud-native software development. Deep knowledge of DDD, microservices, and API-first principles. Hands-on background with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines. Experience with embedded development and IoT ecosystems. Strong people management skills: ability to coach, inspire, and grow a multidisciplinary team. Strategic thinker with an entrepreneurial mindset and a strong focus on delivering business value. Excellent communication skills in English (Dutch and/or French are a plus).
