Senior Data Risk Audit Manager – Technology Audit

Birchlake Recruitment is partnering with a fintech business to appoint an experienced Senior Data Risk Audit Manager to support a complex data risk audit within its technology audit function.

Your tasks

This is a hands-on contract opportunity requiring an experienced audit professional to take ownership of an end-to-end audit, covering planning, fieldwork, stakeholder engagement, testing, reporting and final sign-off. Working closely with audit leadership, you'll assess risks and controls across database engineering and enterprise data platforms, delivering high-quality, regulator-ready outcomes within a single audit quarter.

Requirements

We're looking for

• Extensive experience leading technology and data risk audits within regulated financial services.
• Strong knowledge of data risk management, data governance, data lineage, data quality and data retention.
• Experience auditing databases, enterprise data platforms and cloud-based environments.
• Strong cloud infrastructure knowledge, preferably AWS, with an understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native architectures.
• Practical data analytics skills, including the ability to independently source, analyse and interpret datasets; Python programming is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of audit planning, controls testing, issue development, evidence collection and regulatory reporting.
• Confidence engaging with senior technology and engineering stakeholders, exercising professional scepticism and communicating complex technical risks clearly.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong audit professional who can work independently, deliver high-quality outputs with minimal supervision and ensure audit findings meet rigorous regulatory and leadership standards.
