SAP Master Data Administrator
Job Summary
The SAP Master Data Administrator is responsible for the creation, maintenance, governance, and quality assurance of master data within SAP. This role ensures the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of core business data, including materials, vendors, customers, bills of materials (BOMs), work centers, and other key master data objects that support business operations across Procurement, Finance, Supply Chain, Production, and Sales.
The position plays a critical role in supporting SAP business processes, data governance initiatives, and digital transformation programs by ensuring master data complies with company standards and SAP best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Master Data Management
- Create, update, extend, block, and archive SAP master data records.
- Maintain Material Master, Vendor Master, Customer Master, Cost Centers, Profit Centers, and other business master data objects.
- Support plant, warehouse, and organizational structure maintenance within SAP.
- Manage Bill of Materials (BOM), Routings, Work Centers, and Production Versions when applicable.
Data Quality & Governance
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of master data across SAP modules.
- Validate requests against established master data governance policies.
- Perform regular data audits and cleansing activities.
- Identify and resolve duplicate or inconsistent data records.
Business Process Support
- Process and fulfill master data change requests according to agreed service levels.
- Liaise with business users to gather data requirements and clarify requests.
- Support SAP project activities involving data migration, conversion, and validation.
- Participate in UAT and testing of master data-related changes.
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and segregation of duties (SoD) policies.
- Maintain proper documentation and approval workflows for master data changes.
- Support internal and external audits related to SAP master data.
Reporting & Analysis
- Generate and analyze master data quality reports.
- Monitor key master data KPIs and recommend corrective actions.
- Support business intelligence and reporting initiatives by ensuring reliable source data.
Continuous Improvement
- Recommend improvements to master data processes and governance procedures.
- Participate in SAP upgrades, enhancements, and digital transformation projects.
- Support implementation of SAP MDG (Master Data Governance) or other data management solutions when applicable.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field.
Experience
- 3+ years of experience in SAP Master Data administration.
- Experience working with SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA environments.
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, cement, or supply chain organizations is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of SAP master data structures.
- Experience with one or more SAP modules:
o MM (Materials Management)
o SD (Sales & Distribution)
o PP (Production Planning)
o QM (Quality Management)
o FI/CO (Finance & Controlling)
o PM (Plant Maintenance)
- Knowledge of data migration tools such as:
o Excel-based upload templates
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
