Position summary

The Specialist Telecom Engineer shall provide specialist engineering expertise for all telecommunication systems throughout concept, FEED, detailed engineering, EPC, construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning phases of major ADNOC offshore projects. The role is responsible for reviewing and ensuring EPC contractor engineering deliverables comply with ADNOC standards, international codes, cybersecurity requirements, project specifications, and industry best practices while supporting safe, reliable, and cost-effective project execution.

Key responsibilities

Provide specialist engineering support for offshore telecommunication systems during concept, FEED, detailed engineering and EPC phases.

Review, comment and approve EPC contractor telecom engineering deliverables in accordance with ADNOC standards and project specifications.

Ensure compliance with applicable international standards including IEC, ITU-T, TIA/EIA, IEEE, NFPA, ISO and ADNOC engineering standards.

Review telecom system architecture, network topology, equipment layouts and interface requirements.

Coordinate telecom engineering activities with instrumentation, electrical, process, mechanical, civil/structural and HSE disciplines.

Support technical evaluations, vendor document reviews and procurement activities.

Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, constructability, design reviews and project technical reviews.

Resolve technical queries, design deviations and concession requests raised by EPC contractors.

Support construction, installation, testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up activities.

Perform site visits and offshore surveys to verify installation quality and engineering compliance.

Monitor engineering progress and identify technical risks, proposing practical mitigation measures.

Ensure telecom systems satisfy functional, operational availability, reliability and maintainability requirements.

Support project close-out activities including review of as-built documentation and final dossiers.

Data network & cybersecurity interfaces

Telecom equipment rooms and rack layouts

As-built documentation

Minimum qualification & experience

A bachelor's degree in relevant engineering or equivalent from an accredited university with a minimum of fifteen (15+) years of relevant experience in the oil & gas or petrochemical industry.

Must have at least five (5) years of experience in similar position in a mega oil & gas or petrochemical projects.

Extensive experience in concept, FEED and EPC project execution.

ADNOC offshore project experience is required.

5+ GCC experience is required.

Experience in reviewing EPC contractor engineering deliverables.

Good knowledge of offshore telecom systems integration and industrial communication networks.

Experience in FAT, SAT, commissioning and start-up support is preferred.
