Education:

Registered Apprenticeship certificate. or equivalent experience.

Work setting:

• Custom cabinet shop.
• Millwork shop.

Tasks:

• Operate woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointers, mortisers and shapers, to cut, shape and form parts and components.
• Shape surfaces or edges of wood workpieces, using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files..
• Instruct apprentices.
• Study plans, specifications or drawings of articles to be made.
• Operate CADD and other computer software systems.
• Trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form complete unit and reinforce joints.
• Sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain or polish to finished products; prepare and apply laminated plastics.
• Maintain clean and safe work environment.

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses :

• Joiner (Cabinetmaker) Trade Certification.
• First Aid Certificate.
• Cabinetmaker Red Seal Certificate.
