Wood has been awarded a general engineering contract to support an international client operator to deliver a portfolio of onshore capital projects by provision of engineering and project management services (including EPC contract management), as well as supply chain, construction and commissioning support from Wood Iraq and UAE offices.

Projects include both greenfield and brownfield modification projects and integrating low-carbon solutions to support our client’s energy transition and emissions reduction goals.

Key responsibilities

This position reports directly to the lead QA/QC taking day-to-day. The role is accountable for providing quality and inspection resources, systems, and processes to support pre-order and post order, procurement activities for various projects:

Promotion of both the Wood & client core values

Prepare and review bid documentation and give input to the tender team regarding scope and planning

Provide technical input to the procurement group and evaluation of RFQs and material requisitions

Review and provide input into technical bid evaluations

Support in reviewing project technical queries and specification deviation requests

Review company specifications, project documents, and scope of work requirements

Check and review the documents of the I&C equipment including transmitters, valves, and control systems

Check and review the electrical documents of the HV and LV electrical equipment

Check and review supplier/vendor-related project documentation including ITPs and procedures

Interface with other disciplines, vendors, and the E&I engineering team

Assist package engineers with the E&I activities in the design of equipment, component, and process systems

Participate in the KOM & PIM and all the post-orders meetings

Establish appropriate call-off arrangements with 3rd party inspection agencies

Assign competent, qualified, and appropriately experienced inspectors to inspection assignments

Coordinate vendors’/suppliers’ product/material inspection activities

Prepare and provide inspection package documents and deliver them to third-party inspectors

Plan and participate in external/internal projects and vendors/suppliers’ inspections

Manage and raise vendors’ inspection requests and maintain the inspection assignment register

Participate in mechanical completion walkdown and FAT, completing ITR, recording punch(s) and follow-up for its closure

Ensure fabrication carried out in the manufacturer facilities meets the specifications, international codes, and standards

Review inspection outputs and highlight areas of concern

Report inspection queries, deficiencies & punch list items, and NCRs identified by inspectors

Facilitate the recall, quarantine, and replacement of defective products/materials

Support lead QA/QC for corrective actions by approving new actions and verifying action closure

Support in carrying out root cause analysis of project nonconformities

Ensure the closure of quality requirements for project closeout and provide input to project lessons learned

Control all quality documentation during & upon completion of the project

Upload the inspection reports and releases to the document management system

Check and review the E&I vendor manufacturing records books (MRB)

Review and approve 3rd-party inspection invoices

Liaise with the client quality representative as appropriate

Capture client feedback and monitor resulting improvement actions

Conduct all activities safely and efficiently and follow the company’s HSE policies and procedures

Expected

Degree in electrical engineering

Must be certified IECEx or Compex Ex-01, 02, 03 & 04

Minimum experience

Minimum 10+ years of oil and gas experience

Previous EPC experience in the oil and gas industry

Previous exposure to the HV and LV electrical equipment including switchgear and electric drives

Previous exposure to the I&C equipment including transmitters, valves, and control systems

Previous experience in procurement support activities in EPC/PMC projects oil and gas industry

Must have a working knowledge of standards, codes of practice, and regulations relating to E&I work

Knowledge of HAZOPs, SIL reviews, FAT, etc as required by the project

Middle East experience preferred
