Product Engineer - Steering System (Vehicle Dynamics)

We are looking for a Steering System Engineer to support the development and validation of steering systems, ensuring optimal vehicle dynamic performance for commercial vehicles.This role involves close interaction with TRATON Group brands in a global environment, requiring advanced English proficiency and availability for national and international travel.Responsabilidades e atribuiçõesDevelop and validate steering systems (mechanical, hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, or electric) aligned with vehicle dynamics targets;Define system requirements based on handling, stability, maneuverability, and directional control;Support vehicle dynamic tuning activities (steering feel, returnability, effort curve, and response);Conduct vehicle tests (proving ground and public road), focusing on handling and stability performance;Analyze dynamic data (steering angle, yaw rate, lateral acceleration, torque, etc.) to support calibration;Ensure integration and compatibility with suspension, braking, and ADAS systems;Participate in design reviews and collaborate with global teams.Requisitos e qualificaçõesTechnical RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or related fieldsSolid knowledge of Vehicle Dynamics, especially steering-related behaviorExperience with steering systems (hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, or electric) in commercial or heavy-duty vehiclesUnderstanding of steering kinematics, Ackermann geometry, and system behaviorExperience with data acquisition and analysis tools (e.g., CANalyzer, INCA, MDA)Experience with simulation tools (e.g., Adams, TruckSim, Matlab/Simulink)Knowledge of CATIA V5 for design and integrationValid driver’s license (Category D or E) with experience in vehicle testingAdvanced EnglishNice to haveKnowledge of vehicle simulation tools and regulations (ECE-R79, SAE, ISO 26262)Experience with subjective vehicle testing (ride & handling)Familiarity with ADAS or autonomous steering systemsInformações adicionaisAbout us:At TRATON Group, you are an important part of something bigger.
