Key responsibilities

Critical patient management: Direct the resuscitation, stabilization, and daily management of patients with severe sepsis, trauma, ARDS, multi-organ failure, and complex post-operative needs.

Advanced organ support: Oversee advanced life-support modalities, including mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), vasoactive management, and ECMO (if applicable).

Bedside procedures: Perform and supervise emergency and routine invasive procedures (e.g., endotracheal intubation, central venous and arterial line placements, chest tubes, bronchoscopy).

Team leadership: Lead daily clinical rounds, mentoring and supervising ICU specialists, residents, fellows, and advanced practice nursing staff.

Family & palliative care: Conduct empathetic, clear family conferences regarding complex prognoses, treatment goals, and end-of-life or palliative care paths.

Interdisciplinary collaboration: Coordinate closely with surgical, medical, and diagnostic specialties to ensure integrated patient care.

Requirements

Education: Medical degree (MD / MBBS or equivalent) with formal, accredited residency and subspecialty fellowship training in intensive care / critical care medicine.

Certifications: Active board certification or highest-tier specialist qualification (e.g., UK CCT / EDIC, American Board of Critical Care Medicine, FRCPC, European Board, or equivalent).

Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of post-qualification experience practicing independently as an ICU consultant in a high-acuity tertiary care hospital.

Licensing: Eligible for or currently holding a valid consultant medical license, e.g., DHA, MOH, SCFHS, GMC.

Key skills: Mastery of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS / ECHO), advanced hemodynamic monitoring, rapid critical decision-making, and exceptional communication under high-pressure scenarios.

Should be bilingual - English and Arabic speaker.
