Fabrication Operations Supervisor – Miscellaneous Metals Location: Hanover, PA Job Type: Full-Time Starting Pay: From $35.00 per hour (higher compensation may be available based on experience) Overtime: Additional hours available Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Fabrication Operations Supervisor to oversee daily production within a miscellaneous metals fabrication shop. This leadership role is responsible for directing shop personnel, coordinating workflow, maintaining production schedules, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. The successful candidate will work closely with operations leadership and multiple internal departments to keep fabrication activities on schedule while supporting continuous improvement, employee development, and operational performance.

Primary Responsibilities Shop Operations

Oversee the daily activities of the miscellaneous metals fabrication shop.

Carry out production schedules and priorities established by operations leadership.

Coordinate manpower, workflow, and shop resources to maximize productivity.

Monitor fabrication progress and provide updates on production status.

Oversee fitting, welding, assembly, and material handling throughout the shop.

Team Leadership

Supervise fitters, welders, machine operators, laborers, and other fabrication personnel.

Support employee training, development, and accountability.

Lead daily production meetings and safety discussions.

Help maintain appropriate staffing levels and efficient labor utilization.

Foster teamwork, communication, and a positive work environment.

Safety & Quality

Enforce company safety policies and safe work practices.

Ensure work meets quality requirements, fabrication tolerances, and project specifications.

Address production or quality issues and implement corrective actions when needed.

Promote housekeeping, organization, and an efficient work environment.

Work closely with Quality Control personnel during inspections and issue resolution.

Equipment & Facility Support

Monitor fabrication equipment to ensure it remains in good working condition.

Coordinate maintenance and repair needs with management.

Help manage material handling, storage, and inventory of consumables.

Support continuous improvement efforts that enhance shop organization and efficiency.

Production Tracking

Monitor labor hours, productivity, rework, and overall operational performance.

Track schedule performance and production output.

Participate in KPI reviews and operational planning meetings.

Assist with workforce planning and production forecasting.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with internal teams, including:

Plant Management

Miscellaneous Metals Operations

Project Management

Purchasing

Detailing

Data Control

Quality Control (QC)

Safety

Logistics and Trucking

Qualifications 5–10 years of experience in miscellaneous metals fabrication.

Previous experience as a foreman, supervisor, or fabrication team lead is preferred.

Strong understanding of miscellaneous metals fabrication processes and shop workflow.

Experience managing labor, production scheduling, and day-to-day shop operations.

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Knowledge of fabrication safety practices and quality control standards.
