Job Title: Centralized Registered Nurse Location: Varies - East Atlanta, Cobb, Gwinnett, Georgia Reports To: Lead Clinician FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Salary: $36.00 -$38.00/hour      SUMMARY The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct nursing and healthcare services under the direction of the Medical Director and in accordance with the PPSE Medical Standards and Guidelines. The Centralized Follow-up RN is a member of the healthcare team and is expected to keep a current base of knowledge on miscarriage management, contraception, STIs, surgical nursing support, nursing best practices, and current trends in sexual and reproductive healthcare. The RN is responsible for assisting providers in all visit types, administering medications, overseeing post-operative recovery, providing patient education and counseling, providing patient follow-up, and participating in PPSE’s after-hours call rotation.   ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES General •    Accurately documents all care, services, diagnosis, and treatments properly in patient medical records in accordance  with PPSE Medical Standards and Guidelines •    Assists in family planning care and helps in maintaining clinic flow •    Dispenses contraceptives and administers medications, including IV sedation, according to protocols •    Participates in PPSE’s centralized follow-up program as described below •    Answers patient calls (including participation in the after-hours call rotation) and gives patient assistance regarding medical questions, lab and/or test results, referrals, and general information •    Completes duties in a timely manner •    Assists with the opening and closing of clinic as assigned •    Maintains and protects client confidentiality at all times •    Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations governing PPSE’s services Patient Counseling and Education •    Provides counseling and patient education on contraception, medication, medical treatments, lab tests, medical recommendations, and/or referrals •    Provides instructions and counseling to recovery room patients to include giving verbal and written aftercare instruction and birth control information Centralized Follow-up •    Participates in centralized follow-up for all PPSE sites; referrals, follow-up, and quality control programs •    Explains abnormal lab result findings to patients including the nature of the abnormal findings, the implications of the findings, the possible consequences of not receiving additional diagnosis and/or treatment, an explanation of management options and provision of appropriate referral sources, as indicated, informing client that it is their responsibility to obtain follow-up care •    Generates follow-up reports and carries out telephone, mailed or electronic notifications per PPSE protocol •    Consults with clinician as necessary for medical-related calls from patients that are beyond their scope of knowledge •    Identifies appropriate referral cases based on information collected from physicians, members of the health care team, review of the medical record and use of high-risk screening criteria •    Provides notification to patients for abnormal lab and imaging results as assessed by clinicians •    Acts as an integral player in the development of high-risk case management to include items such as beta quantitative HCG follow-up •    Communicates effectively with medical leadership in regard to follow-up plans, using the PPSE Standards and Guidelines as a resource •    Sends Georgia/Alabama/Mississippi Department of Health, Practitioner Disease Report Form for all reportable diseases to appropriate state Health Department and signs off on normal results •    Maintains up-to-date and accurate handouts, notification letter, reminder letters to mail to patients for all referrals and follow-up  •    Organizes and sends appropriate notification letters and fact sheets for first, second and third contact attempts. •    Sends reminder letters within specified time frame for required labs. •    Makes appointments in EPM for patients when necessary. •    Acts as an integral player in the development of high-risk case management to include items such as beta quantitative HCG follow-up, PAP follow-up Triage •    The CFU RN assists health center staff by triaging and responding to patient complaints over the phone, answering patient questions about their health status and care plans, as well as by facilitating urgent follow-up care at the health center. The CFU RN will involve lab interpretation and radiology interpretation under the guidance of a Clinician •    Check voicemail/clinical tasking/patient portal questions throughout the day, return appropriate calls, and maintain accurate documentation of patient information for calls RN needs to return. Additional Responsibilities  •    Assists in other areas of the clinic as needed and as directed by physician and/or Health Center Manager  •    Be forthcoming and truthful in responding to the Alabama Department of Public Health, Georgia Department of Community Health, and the Mississippi State Department of Health inquiries and requests for information •    Identifies opportunities to improve clinic work processes and partners with team members to implement •    Supports and participates in organizational planning to continuously improve systems/processes to ensure we are providing quality care and exceptional customer service and improve patient outcomes  •    Ensures crash cart medications remain stocked and equipment functions properly •    Assists in the lab and with specimen collection as needed •    Assists clinic team with required state reporting •    Assists physician/clinician with emergencies during clinic; trains staff on medical emergencies  •    Take a leadership role in reviewing medical incident reports and assuring that all relevant data is within AIMS Qualifications Education • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing • Registered Nurse with current GA, AL, and MS license • CPR training and certification Experience • 3-5 years of experience working as an RN, preferably in Family Planning, Women’s Health, or Public Health • Minimum 1 year of Surgical/OR experience, including administering IV medication Skills 1.
