Master (MSc) Thesis ''Study of an Advanced Power Supply for Spacecraft''
Über das Unternehmen
Are you interested in contributing to the development of hardware for future space missions? OHB Sweden is looking for a Master's student to support their development of an advanced power supply for Spacecraft.
You will carry out the thesis as part of OHB Sweden's Avionics and Electrical department, working closely with experienced engineers and contributing to the development of technology intended for future space applications.
Aufgaben
During the thesis, you will work with the complete early-stage development process, from defining the concepts to preliminary sizing, modelling, and if time allows, electronics design. The work will involve balancing key considerations such as performance, reliability, costs, and manufacturability. You will have the possibility to design and simulate a proof of concept if time allows.
The student will contribute to the development of the power supply through activities such as:
- Requirements Specification definition and its design consequences,
- Trade off and selection of key DC-DC converter topologies
- Simulations of the concept (transients, efficiency, start-up, EMI, etc.)
- Review and consolidation of the required component technologies,
- Design, Schematics and analysis of electronics (FMEA, reliability, WCA),
- Report
Anforderungen
The position is suitable for Master's students in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Preliminary experience (through university courses, extra curriculum activities or autodidact) in the following domains is expected / required:
- Good knowledge of Power Electronics (topologies, stability, components)
- Matlab / Simulink or equivalent piecewise linear model simulation (i.e PLECS)
- Spice Simulations
- Testing (i.e power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeter)
- Scripting (i.e Python)
Wir bieten
The student will become part of OHB Sweden's Avionics and Electrical team and contribute to the development of an Innosat avionics architecture. The work offers hands-on experience with real hardware development and close collaboration with engineers working on current and future space missions.
Successful thesis work may also open a path towards future employment within the Avionics & Electrical team at OHB Sweden.
