Company Description MOTOFIX Uganda is building a mobile-first platform that connects motorists with trusted mechanics for fast, reliable, and affordable roadside assistance and vehicle repairs across Uganda. Inspired by real experiences in Nansana’s garages, the team focuses on solving everyday challenges such as unexpected breakdowns, overcharging, long wait times, and the emerging needs of electric vehicles. Through instant matching, upfront quotes, real-time tracking, secure payments, and emergency support, MOTOFIX aims to ensure no driver feels stranded or unsafe. The company’s mission is to help drivers get support within minutes while enabling mechanics to earn fairly and grow sustainably. MOTOFIX also shares practical insights and authentic stories through “MOTOFIX Mondays,” engaging the community of motorists and mechanics nationwide. Role Description As a Mobile Application Developer at MOTOFIX Uganda, you will design, build, and maintain mobile applications that power our roadside assistance and repair services. This full-time, hybrid role is based in Nansana, with flexibility for some work from home. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing new features, improving app performance, and ensuring a smooth user experience for both motorists and mechanics. You will collaborate with product, design, and operations teams to translate real-world roadside challenges into intuitive mobile solutions, implement secure payment flows, and integrate real-time tracking and notifications. The role also involves debugging and resolving issues, optimizing apps for different devices and network conditions, and contributing to technical documentation and code reviews. Qualifications

Strong skills in Mobile Application Development and experience delivering production-ready Mobile Applications. Proficiency in general Application Development, including app architecture, APIs, and integration with backend services. Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and best practices in modern development frameworks. Hands-on experience with iOS Development and familiarity with platform-specific guidelines and performance optimization. Experience with Android development (Kotlin/Java) or cross-platform frameworks (e.g., Flutter, React Native) is highly beneficial. Knowledge of RESTful APIs, JSON, and secure data handling, including payments and user authentication. Ability to test, debug, and optimize applications for low-bandwidth and diverse device environments common in Uganda. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-moving startup environment. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. Interest in mobility, transport, or automotive services in Uganda and commitment to building safe, reliable digital solutions.
