Assistant ICT Engineer

Job description

Install, configure and maintain all ICT equipment according to instructions.

Unpack and install ICT equipment such as new computers and peripherals. Maintain an inventory file of all new equipment.

Ensure all new equipment is functional before it is distributed.

Set up equipment in offices, classrooms, and labs. Set up accounts and profiles for all users.

Periodic printer maintenance such as head cleaning and alignment. Refill printer toner and cartridges.

Responsible for booting systems and preloading software in preparation for classroom lessons.

Maintain a current inventory of hardware, software and passwords.

Communicate with users in assessing their ongoing needs, recommend best practices, effective solutions and implement them to produce desired results.

Maintain records and manage a log of all work undertaken.

Ensure the GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times.

Initiate effort and energy beyond the typical workday, where the tasks require additional commitment.

Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.

Perform other duties as requested by direct and dotted reporting line managers or supervisors.

Skills description

Working knowledge of Windows Server 2003, AD, DNS, DHCP, IIS, and network technologies.
