Double Star Drilling has an immediate opening for five full time Drillers Assistants. Previous field construction experience as a skilled laborer is required. The primary responsibility of the Drillers Assistants is to assist the Equipment Operators (Driller?s) and Superintendent.

*Responsibilities and Duties:*

  • Operating small to medium sized equipment (skid steer, loader, packer)
  • Traffic Control/flagging
  • General equipment maintenance
  • Participating in all safety meetings and toolbox meetings
  • Physical and manual labour
  • Removal of drill spoils
  • Site clean-up
  • Changing of bits, casing, and all other tooling as required

*Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:*

  • Ability to communicate fluently in English is required
  • A minimum of 1 year experience as a skilled construction laborer
  • Class 5 license and clean driver's abstract
  • Must provide own transportation to various job sites in and around the city
  • Must be on time and fit for work for all shifts as communicated by the site supervisor
  • May be required to complete a drug and alcohol test for pre project access or post incident review
  • On-the-job training is provided
  • Valid CSTS-2020
  • Valid WHMIS 2015 certification
  • Valid Ground Disturbance considered an asset
  • Valid First Aid considered an asset
  • PPE Provided - Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Gloves, Ear Protection, Coveralls.
  • You are required to have your own CSA Approved Steel Toe Boots that cover the ankles and warm clothes for winter season
  • Mechanically inclined individuals will be given priority
  • Experience operating/using various power tools, shovels, and other construction equipment
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs repetitively

*What We Offer:*

  • $24 - $34+ per hour depending on experience.
  • OT (time and a half) after 8 hours per day and 44 hours in a week.
  • 10% vacation and stat holiday pay on all regular hours.
  • $2.00 per hour out of town premium.

*Working Conditions:*

  • 40 - 50 hours per week. Overtime and work on weekends as required.
  • Must be able to travel out of town and accommodate last minute scheduling
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather and walk on uneven ground and terrain.
  • Fast paced, busy construction environments
