Our mission is to empower students to learn locally and earn globally. Your tasks

The roles American Open University is recruiting Course Mentors for its Information Technology programs. Course Mentors are practitioners first. You will work on campus with students every day, running labs, guiding projects, and coaching them through the curriculum's practical work. Course content is prebuilt, and the Lead Course Mentor handles grading; your job is purely hands-on, making the material land through direct, practical mentoring grounded in your own industry experience.

  1. Hands-on mentoring and lab delivery. Carry an assigned caseload of students; run practical lab sessions; walk students through builds, configurations, and troubleshooting; and give formative feedback on their work in progress.
  2. Project guidance. Guide students through capstone and course projects from scoping to completion, coach them in preparation for project defense, and support defense sessions in a non-grading capacity.
  3. Student engagement and support. Monitor engagement for your caseload, refer at-risk students through the University’s process, cover the help desk rota, and resolve first-line student issues, escalating to the Lead Course Mentor where required.
  4. Admissions and records support. Conduct credential checks and Recognition of Prior Learning assessments for assigned applicants, deliver cohort orientation sessions, and maintain accurate attendance and engagement records for your caseload to NUC and University standards.
