Education:

College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. or equivalent experience.

Work site environment:

At heights. Dusty. Hot. Noisy. Odours.

Work setting:

Manufacture.

Tasks:

  • Interpret welding process specifications.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment.
  • Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes.
  • Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications.
  • Determine weldability of materials.
  • Operate hoisting and lifting equipment.
  • Maintain and perform minor repairs on welding, brazing and soldering equipment.

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses :

Canadian Welding Bureau Certification.

Welding techniques:

  • Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) (TIG).
  • Gas metal arc welding (GMAW).
  • TIG.
  • MIG.
  • Gas metal ARC (GMAW) (MIG).

Equipment and machinery experience:

  • Gas welding machine.
  • Spot welding machine.

Area of specialization:

Custom fabrication.

Transportation/travel information:

Own transportation. Public transportation is available.

Work conditions and physical capabilities:

Fast-paced environment. Repetitive tasks. Physically demanding. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Standing for extended periods.

Weight handling:

Up to 23 kg (50 lbs).

  • Steel-toed safety boots.
