Print Operator / Digital Press & Pre-Press Specialist

Location: Bognor Regis Job Type: Full-time Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience and skill level

Join an established print production business as a Print Operator. This role offers a varied experience encompassing pre-press, digital print production, and finishing operations. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality printed materials to customer specifications and deadlines. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with hands-on production experience, demonstrating a commitment to quality and efficiency.

Day-to-day of the role:

Pre-Press & Artwork Preparation

  • Prepare and set up templates for various printed communications and marketing materials using Adobe Illustrator and variable data software.
  • Import, manipulate, and prepare data for personalised print campaigns.
  • Conduct pre-flight checks to ensure artwork meets production requirements.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to resolve artwork and production queries.

Print Production

  • Operate and monitor monochrome and colour digital presses, as well as industrial inkjet printing equipment.
  • Perform quality control checks to ensure colour consistency and registration accuracy.
  • Complete routine equipment maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
  • Escalate technical issues as required to minimise production downtime.

Finishing & Post-Production

  • Operate a range of finishing equipment, ensuring all finished products meet customer specifications and quality standards.

Stock & Inventory Management

  • Monitor and manage paper stocks, consumables, and production materials.
  • Maintain an organised and efficient storage system.

Health, Safety & Continuous Improvement

  • Adhere to all health and safety procedures within the production environment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workspace.
  • Contribute ideas to improve workflows, productivity, and quality.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience operating digital print presses and print finishing equipment.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.
  • Experience with XMPie or similar variable data print software.
  • Strong understanding of artwork preparation and pre-press processes.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with additional pre-press, workflow, or finishing software.
  • Knowledge of personalised print or direct marketing production processes.
  • Previous experience within a commercial print or production environment.
