About Orient Robotics

Orient Robotics is a robotics company and we develop high-fidelity teleoperation, multi-modal perception, localization and autonomous systems for material-handling and industrial vehicles, spanning teleoperation platforms, fleet monitoring and infrastructure-free positioning.

About the Role

We are looking for an Embedded SoftwareEngineer to design, develop and maintain the firmware and embedded software that power our robotic platforms — teleoperated material-handling vehicles, automated guided vehicles and sensing devices. You will work across the full embedded stack, from RTOS-based MCU firmware and device drivers to sensor integration, wireless connectivity and hardware bring-up, taking products from prototype to reliable field deployment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and debug embedded firmware in C/C++ on ARM Cortex-M platforms (STM32, ESP32) using RTOS such as Zephyr RTOS and Free RTOS.
  • Integrate sensors, actuators and peripherals over I2C, SPI, UART, ADC, GPIO, PWM and CAN; develop and maintain device drivers and board support packages.
  • Implement wireless and IoT communication links (BLE, Wi-Fi, MQTT, Modbus TCP, TCP/IP) and edge-to-cloud telemetry pipelines for device monitoring and control.
  • Perform hardware bring-up and board-level debugging using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, GDB and JTAG/SWD; support PCB/FPCB design reviews and power-management decisions.
  • Build Python-based test tooling, telemetry dashboards and automated regression tests to improve firmware reliability in field deployments.
  • Collaborate with hardware, mechanical and systems engineers to deliver integrated robotic products; document designs and participate in design reviews.

Requirements

Must-have

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong programming skills in Cand C++, with working knowledge of Python.
  • Hands-on experience developing MCU firmware (STM32, ESP32, ARM Cortex-M, Arduino) with an RTOS (Zephyr RTOS, Free RTOS).
  • Experience integrating sensors and peripherals via I2C, SPI, UART, ADC, PWM, GPIO and CAN, including writing device drivers.
  • Familiarity with wireless and IoT protocols: BLE, Wi-Fi, MQTT, Modbus TCP and TCP/IP.
  • Ability to debug across the hardware–software boundary using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, GDB, JTAG/SWD and network analysis tools.
  • Experience contributing to full product development cycles through academic, research or internship projects.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills in English; ability to work effectively in a small, fast-moving team.

Nice-to-have

  • Battery and power management experience, or safety-critical and portable/wearable system experience.
  • PCB/FPCB design and hard ware bring-up experience.
  • Edge AI/ML deployment (e.g. TensorFlow Lite, PyTorch, YOLO) or FPGA-based inference (Vitis HLS, PYNQ).
  • Cloud IoT platforms (e.g. AWSIoT Core), Docker/Kubernetes and Git-based workflows.
  • Embedded Linux development.

What We Offer

  • Ownership of real robotic products, from prototype to field deployment, in a fast-moving startup environment.
  • Exposure across firmware, hardware, robotics and edge-AI domains, with mentorship from senior engineers.
