About the Role

We are looking for a seasoned, scientifically rigorous Senior Medical Writer with a passion for publications to join our fantastic team.

This role sits within a high-growth publications account that is rapidly expanding. If you are a writer who genuinely thrives on the intellectual challenge of publications, someone who loves diving into clinical data, crafting high-impact manuscripts, and shaping scientific narratives, this is the perfect environment for you.

You will be the scientific anchor on key publications, taking ownership of clinical study manuscripts from inception to submission. This is a highly collaborative role where you will not only write but also mentor junior writers, review manuscripts, and partner closely with external Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and pharmaceutical clients.

In Medical Education, our approach is founded on expertise that combines biomedical science, learning theory, and behaviour change to create impactful medical and professional education. We’re ‘Scientifically Grounded, Creatively Driven.’

What You’ll Do

Lead Manuscript Development: Draft, refine, and review high-quality clinical study manuscripts, review articles, abstracts, and congress presentations.

Act as a Strategic Partner: Work closely with clients and authors/KOLs, guiding them through the publication process with confidence and scientific authority.

Maintain Scientific Rigor: Interpret complex technical documents (CSRs, regulatory submissions, clinical papers) and translate them into clear, compelling, and compliant scientific narratives.

Provide Editorial Oversight: Review the work of junior writers, ensuring scientific accuracy, alignment with client briefs, and adherence to industry guidelines.

Support Account Growth: Partner with the wider team to identify organic growth opportunities on this high-performing account, contributing to proposals and pitches where appropriate.

What You’ll Need

Agency Experience: A solid track record as a Medical Writer / Senior Medical Writer within a healthcare, medical communications, or medical education agency, with a dedicated focus on publications.

A Passion for Publications: Proven experience writing and reviewing clinical study manuscripts, with a strong portfolio of peer-reviewed publications.

Technical Rigor: Excellent data-interpretation skills, with the ability to easily digest CSRs, clinical papers, and regulatory documents.

Compliance Knowledge: A thorough, working knowledge of the publishing industry and pharmaceutical regulations (including ABPI, GPP 2022/GPP4, and ICMJE guidelines).

Exceptional Communication & EQ: High emotional intelligence, with the ability to build trust with demanding clients, lead author discussions, and adapt your style to different internal and external stakeholders.

Versatility (Highly Desirable): While your main focus will be publications, experience with digital projects, events, and large educational programmes is a distinct advantage.

Our ambition is to attract the very best diverse talent to Ogilvy, and to be the employer of choice in the UK. We want everyone to feel welcome when they join us, and once they’re here, for them to want to stay with us, grow their career, and to feel they belong with us.
