Accountabilities:
Analyse and assess the implementation of a complex technology project within the insurance domain.
Design, define, and continuously evolve the architecture of enterprise-grade software solutions for the Swiss market.
Lead technical decisions around application design, system architecture, integrations, and scalability.
Define local adaptations, customisations, and extensions required to meet business and market requirements.
Provide technical leadership, coaching, and guidance to development teams, supporting engineering best practices.
Collaborate with stakeholders and distributed international teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Drive software quality through code reviews, testing strategies, and continuous improvement practices.
Support the implementation of modern backend solutions using microservices, event-driven architectures, and cloud technologies.
Contribute to architectural discussions and ensure solutions are aligned with business goals and technical standards.
Requirements:
10+ years of experience as a Senior Developer, Lead Developer, Software Architect, or similar technical leadership role.
Strong expertise in Java, including modern versions such as Java 17/21, with extensive experience in Spring Boot and REST APIs.
Solid experience designing and developing microservice-based architectures.
Strong knowledge of Kafka, event-driven architecture (EDA), and domain-driven design (DDD).
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
Proven ability to work effectively with international and distributed engineering teams.
Experience delivering enterprise solutions in regulated industries such as insurance or financial services is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of software engineering principles, architecture patterns, and development best practices.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence technical decisions.
Fluency in English is required; German language skills are considered an advantage.
Willingness to relocate to Zürich, Switzerland, as fully remote work is not available for this role.
Ability to work in a hybrid environment, with remote work possibilities depending on client policies.
