Accountabilities: Lead the initial review of prospective renewable energy tax credit transactions and assess the completeness and quality of underwriting materials.

Partner with project developers to gather required financial, technical, legal, and project documentation and resolve diligence gaps.

Oversee the preparation and evaluation of diligence memorandums for clean energy tax credits, ensuring transactions satisfy applicable regulatory requirements, including eligibility, prevailing wage, and apprenticeship criteria.

Maintain deep expertise in transaction structuring, clean energy tax credit regulations, applicable IRS requirements, and industry developments to inform underwriting decisions.

Develop standardized, comprehensive underwriting policies and frameworks across different tax credit types.

Analyze financial, technical, legal, and project feasibility information to determine credit eligibility and assess transaction risk.

Review tax credit insurance policies and evaluate whether appropriate risk mitigation is in place.

Conduct detailed risk assessments, identify potential issues with credit claims, and prepare recommendations for transaction approval or denial.

Build and lead a high-performing team of underwriting principals and senior managers, establishing a culture of excellence, accountability, continuous learning, and subject-matter expertise.

Mentor and develop junior talent while creating scalable management and development practices as transaction volume increases.

Lead initiatives to improve underwriting processes, leveraging technology, automation, and data in partnership with product, engineering, legal, marketing, and other internal teams.

Develop and maintain long-term relationships with senior tax and finance leaders at major corporate tax credit buyers.

Generate new business relationships through conferences, networking, strategic partnerships, targeted outreach, and inbound opportunities.

Represent the organization as a recognized market expert through webinars, industry panels, conferences, and other external forums.

Contribute to broader commercial strategy and help build a high-performing, collaborative team culture.

Requirements

14+ years of experience in financial services, renewable energy, project finance, banking, Big Four advisory, or a comparable field.

Strong preference for experience in renewable energy project finance, banking, tax credit markets, or a related financial services environment.

Deep understanding of the Inflation Reduction Act, relevant IRS tax codes, renewable energy markets, tax credit structures, underwriting, and risk management.

Detailed knowledge of renewable energy project underwriting, including equipment and performance assessment and the financial, technical, and legal factors affecting project risk.

Working knowledge of U.S. energy markets, regulatory structures, physical and synthetic power purchase agreements, derivatives, and regional renewable energy incentives.

Strong analytical capabilities, including the ability to simplify complex financial, technical, and regulatory issues and translate them into clear recommendations.

Demonstrated experience building or scaling a new initiative, developing processes, and leading teams in a high-growth environment.

Exceptional relationship-building and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to establish trust quickly with senior clients, partners, and internal teams.

Excellent written, verbal, and executive-level communication skills, combined with strong listening and influencing abilities.

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.

Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across commercial, technology, legal, and other functional teams.

High degree of ownership, resourcefulness, autonomy, and willingness to take a hands-on approach to solving problems.

Comfort operating in an entrepreneurial, rapidly changing environment where processes and teams are still being built.

Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time.

Commitment to contributing positively to team culture and fostering an inclusive, high-performance environment.

FINRA SIE, Series 79, and Series 63 licenses required, or willingness to obtain them under broker-dealer sponsorship.
