The Assembly Supervisor provides operational leadership for Factory Built Substation (FBS) assembly operations, leading Assembly Technicians and supporting execution across all phases of production. This role is responsible for ensuring Assembly operations are performed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with established quality standards. The Assembly Supervisor maintains a strong and visible shop-floor presence, combining hands-on leadership with effective planning, coordination, and problem-solving to drive team performance and production execution. This position plays a key role in aligning people, processes, and daily production priorities to support operational requirements and customer commitments. Success in this role requires strong leadership, professional communication, sound decision-making, and the ability to respond effectively to fast-paced operational challenges while maintaining a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities: Assembly Leadership:

Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and performance management for Assembly Technicians, establishing clear expectations, accountability, and consistent performance standards across all assembly teams.

Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, discipline, professionalism, accountability, and operational excellence throughout the Assembly department.

Conduct regularly scheduled Assembly Team meetings to communicate priorities, identify and resolve operational challenges, strengthen team coordination, and drive continuous improvement.

Support recruiting, candidate interviews, and training efforts for the Assembly department; assess staffing levels, team structure, and workforce capabilities and provide feedback to PSS Leadership based on production demands and departmental needs.

Production Execution:

Maintain a strong and visible presence on the shop floor, providing hands-on leadership and support to Assembly teams throughout daily production activities.

Oversee daily Assembly operations to ensure production schedules, quality standards, labor efficiency, and operational targets are consistently achieved.

Monitor production workflow and team performance, addressing operational challenges and adjusting priorities as needed to maintain production momentum.

Partner with the Production Manager to align short- and long-term production priorities, scheduling needs, and operational objectives.

Ensure materials, tools, equipment, and work instructions are prepared and available ahead of production activities to minimize delays and downtime.

Adjust labor and operational resources within Assembly as needed to maintain productivity and respond to changing production demands.

Execution and Problem Solving:

Proactively identify and respond to production-related production issues, workflow disruptions, equipment concerns, and process inefficiencies affecting Assembly performance.

Take timely action to resolve issues within the Supervisor’s area of responsibility and communicate or escalate matters requiring cross-functional support to the appropriate stakeholders .

Quality Assurance and Safety:

Promote safe work practices and maintain accountability for safety performance across all assembly operations.

Enforce compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, production standards, and company safety procedures.

Partner with Quality and Safety teams to address audit findings, support root-cause analysis, implement corrective actions within Assembly, and resolve non-conformance issues.

Ensure team members are properly trained on equipment, tools, procedures, and safety protocols.

Reporting and Performance Analysis:

Track and analyze production build times across Assembly activities to identify performance trends and improve operational planning and scheduling.

Collect and analyze labor-hour data by FBS structure to evaluate workforce utilization, support future project estimating, and identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Serve as the primary point of contact for Assembly-related production coordination, collaborating with Production, Logistics, Engineering and Design, Project Management, Supply Chain, and other DTPS teams to support production execution and facilitate timely resolution of issues affecting Assembly.

Identify design concerns, material issues, workflow disruptions, and other production challenges that may impact Assembly operations; proactively communicate risks and coordinate with the appropriate teams to minimize disruptions and constraints to production flow.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Required): 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, assembly operations, production leadership, or industrial operations within a manufacturing environment.

Strong understanding of production schedules, manufacturing workflows, and production execution.

Demonstrated leadership experience coordinating teams, driving accountability, coaching employees, and supporting operational performance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and respond effectively to operational challenges, workflow disruptions, production constraints, and process inefficiencies.

Ability to lead through changing production demands while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, execution, and operational efficiency.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across Production, Engineering and Design, Quality, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Project Management teams.

Strong organizational and workforce coordination skills with the ability to manage changing priorities, labor requirements, and production demands.

Ability to maintain a visible and professional leadership presence on the production floor while driving accountability and team performance.

Knowledge of working in ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Preferred): Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred; equivalent manufacturing leadership experience considered.

Knowledge of assembly operations, steel fabrication, and welding.

General knowledge of electrical systems, high-voltage equipment, substations, or power distribution.

Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives, lean manufacturing principles, or operational efficiency programs.

Experience working within complex, multi-department manufacturing operations with high production demands and customer-driven schedules.
