Duties and Responsibilities This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities will include:-
- Collecting and recording petroleum engineering data on drilling, production, and reservoir performance;
- Participating in petroleum drilling and related engineering work programs for designated projects;
- Participating in petroleum resource evaluation;
- Participating in measurement and calibration of downhole parameters including temperature, flow rate, and pressure of oil and gas; and
- Monitoring installation, operation, and maintenance of petroleum engineering equipment and facilities.

Requirements
For appointment to this grade A candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in any of the following disciplines from a university recognized in Kenya:
- Engineering,
- Petroleum Engineering Technology,
- Civil Engineering,
- Chemical Engineering,
- Geological Engineering,
- Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering or Technology (Chemical Engineering)
For appointment to this grade A candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in any of the following disciplines from a university recognized in Kenya:
- Engineering,
- Petroleum Engineering Technology,
- Civil Engineering,
- Chemical Engineering,
- Geological Engineering,
- Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering or Technology (Chemical Engineering)
