Mactores is the agent-native AWS modernization firm. Most modernization work doesn't ship, it stalls in pilots, slips a year, or lands at three times the budget. We exist to ship it: production systems running, legacy retired, outcomes measured. Our delivery is built on Aedeon, the agent platform built by Mactores' founders' sister company, which absorbs the repetitive 60–70% of engagement work, discovery, dependency mapping, validation, test generation, that traditional consulting bills human hours against. Forward-deployed engineers own the rest: architecture, judgment, and cutover, on dates we commit to in the contract. This role sits in our Application & Database Modernization pillar: moving legacy applications, databases, and infrastructure from on-premises to cloud-native AWS on committed dates. Customers come to us with dedicated hardware that costs more every year, deployments that depend on one person's memory, and enterprise workloads- Linux, Windows, big data that nobody wants to touch. You'll join the DevOps team that lands these migrations. Aedeon handles the discovery and dependency-mapping grind; you build the automation, monitoring, and CI infrastructure that makes each cutover repeatable and safe. This is a client-facing engineering role: you'll set customer expectations, meet them, and see your infrastructure work carry production traffic. What you will do? Deliver application migration projects from on-premises to AWS. Deliver database migration projects RDBMS, NoSQL, DW, Hadoop from on-premises to AWS. Automate operational and server provisioning workflows using AWS CFT on AWS. Share responsibility for deploying releases and running operations maintenance. Improve operations infrastructure: Jenkins clusters, Bitbucket, monitoring tools (Consul), and metrics tools such as Graphite and Grafana. Provide operational support for the rest of the engineering team. Help migrate our remaining dedicated hardware infrastructure to the cloud retire the legacy, don't babysit it. Establish and maintain operational best practices, and implement monitoring for automated system health checks. Build our CI pipeline, and train and guide the team in DevOps practices. What do you have? 2+ years of experience using Terraform for IaaC. 2+ years of configuration management and engineering for large-scale customers, ideally supporting an Agile development process. 2+ years of Linux administration experience. Deep understanding of version control systems (git), including branching and merging strategies. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/EC2/ECS/RDS/CloudFormation, CloudWatch, etc.) and cloud automation tools (Ansible, Chef). Experience with software build tools (Maven, Gradle) and continuous integration tools (Jenkins). Production support experience with Java-based applications — this one's a must. Experience with Linux environments and scripting languages: bash, Python, Groovy. Experience supporting Node.js in production is a plus. Knowledge of service discovery tools such as Consul is a plus. Comfort working late evening hours, which is when most patching occurs. A proactive eye for what can be made more reliable — and the follow-through to make it so. You will be preferred if You are AWS DevOps Pro or AWS SA Pro Certified How we work? We run a forward-deployed model. Engineers embed with the customer's team, own outcomes from discovery through production, and carry the delivery commitment personally. Aedeon absorbs scale; engineers absorb judgment; the contract absorbs risk. As an associate, that structure works in your favor: the repetitive discovery work is largely absorbed by agents, so your hours go to automation, infrastructure, and learning cutover discipline from senior engineers.
