Drivetrain Engineer – Wind Power

Goldwind Energy ApSworkindenmarkobjavljeno 26. 10. 2026

About the company

Goldwind Denmark is looking for a Drivetrain Engineer to contribute to the development of wind turbine drivetrain systems. You will join an international engineering environment where colleagues in Denmark and China work together to develop mechanical concepts, evaluate design solutions and support their implementation.

Goldwind Energy ApS (also called Goldwind Denmark) is a R&D focused subsidiary of GOLDWIND SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD. (Goldwind), a world leading wind turbine technology and energy solutions provider headquartered in Beijing, China.

Through the implementation and investment in industry-leading turbine technology, water treatment solutions and other green energy technological ventures, Goldwind has been hailed as one of China’s most innovative companies.

Your tasks

This opportunity suits you if you enjoy combining component design with an understanding of the complete drivetrain. In a growing company with ambitious technology goals, you can influence new concepts and help turn them into practical solutions while broadening your expertise.

You will develop and evaluate drivetrain concepts, balancing reliability, weight, cost and serviceability. Working with engineering specialists and suppliers, you will translate system requirements and turbine loads into mechanical solutions.

Your responsibilities include

  • Developing concepts for main shafts, bearing arrangements, housings, supporting structures and interfaces with gearboxes and generators.
  • Developing mechanical designs supported by calculations, CAD models and technical specifications.
  • Assessing load paths, stiffness, alignment, tolerances and component interactions alongside FEA specialists.
  • Comparing solutions to improve performance, manufacturability, assembly and maintenance.
  • Supporting colleagues in China during detailed design and participating in design reviews.
  • Assessing suppliers’ component capabilities, resolving technical questions and supporting design verification and testing.
  • Documenting recommendations, assumptions and design risks.

Requirements

You take a systematic, practical approach to engineering, develop concepts independently and challenge assumptions constructively. You involve specialists when needed, take responsibility for your work and communicate your findings clearly.

We expect you to have

  • A degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least five years of relevant experience in mechanical design and development.
  • Practical knowledge of one or more drivetrain components, such as shafts, bearings, housings, couplings or gearbox support arrangements.
  • A solid grounding in strength, fatigue, stiffness, materials and tolerances.
  • Experience with 3D CAD, engineering drawings and mechanical calculations, together with the ability to interpret simulation results and use them to guide design decisions.
  • Good written and spoken English and the ability to communicate effectively across teams and cultures.

Experience with wind turbine drivetrains or comparable large rotating machinery is preferred. Experience with rolling or plain bearings, large cast or forged components, drivetrain dynamics, prototype testing or wind turbine certification is an advantage. We also welcome specialists who want to broaden their understanding of the complete drivetrain.

What we offer

What can you look forward to? You will have the opportunity to influence drivetrain concepts and help develop them into practical engineering solutions. Your work will span concept development, component design, design reviews and validation, allowing you to see how technical decisions translate into working designs.

Through close collaboration with an international engineering team and specialist suppliers, you will exchange knowledge, explore different approaches and develop both your specialist expertise and your understanding of the complete drivetrain.
