Job Description

About the job

We're looking for an HR Manager to own our employee experience. You'll lead, develop and drive our retention strategy, and define and empower the employee journey. This role carries real accountability: you'll set a clear long-term vision for how we attract, engage, grow and keep our people, and you'll have the drive and ownership to turn that vision into results.

You won't be doing it alone. Reporting to our Director of People & Culture, you'll collaborate with an experienced P&C leadership team who will back you, challenge you and help bring your strategy to life across the business.

The Part You'll Play

You will lead our team of 6 HR professionals located around the country and in the Philippines. We are passionate and bring diverse experience, and we're proud of a culture dedicated to kicking goals and making sure our people get the HR support they need. As a dispersed team, we connect digitally as often as possible to advise and back each other whenever needed.

Day-to-Day you will:

  • Set the Vision: Define a clear, long-term retention and employee experience strategy that aligns with our business growth, and gain buy-in from the Executive and Leadership Team.
  • Own Retention: Lead and drive retention initiatives nationally. You'll use turnover, exit and engagement data to understand why people stay and why they leave, then act on it and measure the impact.
  • Define the Employee Journey: Map and continually improve every stage of the employee lifecycle, including attraction, onboarding, probation, development, career pathways, recognition and offboarding. The goal is a journey that is consistent, simple and genuinely empowering for our people.
  • Empower Leaders: Build the capability of our clinical and operational leaders to retain and develop their teams, through coaching, practical tools and leadership development.
  • Grow Talent: Oversee onboarding, performance management and professional development so our people can see a clear future with us. You'll also strengthen our EVP and employer brand to make Better Rehab an employer of choice.
  • Drive Engagement: Run our annual engagement survey, interpret the results for the Executive and Leadership Team, and own the action plan that follows.
  • Execute and Deliver: Turn strategy into action with clear priorities, KPIs and accountability across the P&C team. You'll lead, coach and develop your direct reports to deliver it.
  • Keep Us Compliant: Ensure our people practices meet employment, IR and WHS legislation and the NDIS Practice Standards, and take part in NDIS and ISO audits.

Our Core Values

Benefits

  • Flexible working: WFH structure with office and remote options, and the ability to work from multiple parts of the country.
  • National opportunities: With over 40 offices across Australia, you can transfer interstate for new challenges and experiences.
  • Leave: Paid parental leave, study leave and more!
  • Wellbeing: Wellness days and access to confidential support services.
  • Social: Regular team and social events.
  • Discounts: Exclusive partnerships offering discounts and benefits.

Qualifications

About You

  • You will have a proven track record of designing and delivering retention and employee experience strategies that measurably improve retention, engagement or both.
  • You will be a strategic thinker who can set a long-term vision, and a doer with the drive and ownership to execute it.
  • You will be comfortable holding accountability for outcomes, and confident using people data to show progress and inform decisions.
  • You will have experience leading a P&C or HR function across the employee lifecycle, including talent, engagement, performance, L&D and employee relations.
  • You will be a strong coach, influencer and collaborator, able to bring leaders and a senior P&C team along with you.
  • An understanding of the NDIS Practice Standards, or experience in a similar regulated, people-services environment, will be highly regarded.
  • Experience supporting clinical leaders across a dispersed, multi-site workforce will be a strong advantage.

You will also bring:

  • An undergraduate degree in Psychology, Business, Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • An NDIS check, Working with Children Check and Police Check, or willingness to obtain them.
  • Employment eligibility within Australia.

Most of all, you want to be part of a purpose-led organisation that lives and breathes our mission of supporting our participants. We are People People, and we invite you to join us in bringing that to life!
