physiotherapy assistant

Education:

College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.

Tasks:

• Assess patients' physical abilities.
• Carry out treatment programs, under the direction of physiotherapists and/or occupational therapists, to rehabilitate patients with various injuries or disabilities.
• Follow through on treatment programs with patients.
• Help physical therapists.
• Set up and dismantle equipment.
• Clean and maintain equipment.
• Record vital signs.
• Plan physiotherapy programs.
• Select appropriate exercises, apparatus and manipulations.
• Maintain clinical and progress reports.
• Confer with other health professionals.
• Conduct research in physiotherapy.
• Document patient rehabilitation progress.
• Teach and/or supervise exercises to patients.

Experience:

1 year to less than 2 years.
