What we do
VPS is the market leader of Testing and Inspection services to the global maritime industry. Marine Bunkers are typically the largest contributor to the operational cost of a ship. Our Bunker Quantity Survey (BQS) team conducts quantitative inspections of marine fuels on board our client's vessels.
We were the first company to implement a worldwide Code of Practice for Bunker Surveying with continuing regular on-the-job quality assurance audits to ensure the highest level of integrity and service performance.
The opportunity
As a bunker surveyor you will primarily perform the following activities:
- Performing and reporting bunker quantity measurements of fuel for ships
- Taking samples for both BQS and FQT (Fuel Quality Testing) for fuel quality testing by the laboratory
- You follow the entire process in accordance with the requirements in the VPS Code of Practice
- Reports to the Manager BQS with no direct reports
- Based in The Netherlands
What we're looking for
- Proven bunker surveying experience (with references) is essential.
- At least a completed MBO course (e.g., Shipping and Transport College), preferably supplemented with VCA certificate.
- Recent experience within the maritime sector and experience with quality inspections is a must.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent command of both Dutch and English, spoken and written.
- Strong communication skills and patience.
