Machinist

Operate conventional machining equipment, including manual lathes, milling machines, drilling machines and surface grinders, as required.

Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and machining instructions.

Set up machines, select suitable cutting tools and determine appropriate machining parameters.

Machine metal components accurately according to specified dimensions and tolerances.

Use measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, dial indicators and bore gauges to inspect finished parts.

Perform basic machine maintenance and ensure tools and equipment are kept in good working condition.

Identify machining defects and report quality or equipment issues to the supervisor.

Maintain good housekeeping and comply with workplace safety procedures.

Carry out other reasonable machining-related duties assigned by the supervisor.
