Accountabilities: The Java Backend Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining backend solutions that support financial messaging operations. The role requires strong technical ownership, collaboration across engineering teams, and the ability to apply AI-driven approaches to improve software development efficiency.
Develop and maintain microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
Build and enhance solutions for financial messaging transformation and processing.
Integrate applications with messaging brokers and distribution channels.
Design, optimize, and maintain queries in relational database environments.
Develop REST APIs and contribute to scalable microservices architectures.
Participate in CI/CD processes and support production incident resolution.
Collaborate with Architecture, QA, DevOps, and Business teams to deliver effective solutions.
Perform code reviews and provide technical guidance to junior developers.
Support the adoption of Generative AI technologies to improve productivity, automation, and software development practices.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, performance, and reliability.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate is a backend engineer with strong Java expertise, experience with distributed systems, and interest in applying Artificial Intelligence to software development processes. A solid understanding of financial technology environments and modern engineering practices is highly valued.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in Backend development with Java and Spring Boot.
Minimum of 4 years of experience using Git and collaborative development workflows.
Experience working with messaging brokers such as Kafka, IBM MQ, or similar technologies.
Experience with relational databases including Oracle and PostgreSQL.
Experience developing REST APIs and microservices-based architectures.
Knowledge of Generative AI concepts and applications, including:
AI-powered development assistants.
Prompt Engineering.
Evaluation of Large Language Model (LLM) generated responses.
Intermediate English proficiency (B2).
Intermediate Spanish proficiency (B2).
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in financial services, banking, or payment solutions environments.
Knowledge of financial messaging standards such as ISO 20022 and SWIFT.
Experience with Amazon S3 and/or Redis.
Experience integrating AI solutions through APIs such as OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Gemini, or Claude.
Knowledge of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions.
Experience developing AI Agents and intelligent automation workflows.
Familiarity with AI-driven workflow automation.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields.
