What you'll do

The Sr Buyer for Switchboards manages the day-to-day execution required to keep production lines running. You will own purchase order execution, supplier commitment tracking, and ERP data management. This role focuses on relentless daily expediting and operational outcome. While the Sr Global Supply Manager leads category strategy and negotiations, you drive the weekly cadence and supplier follow-ups necessary to prevent line stops.

Where you'll work

This role is based out of our Long Beach facility at 6015 Obispo Ave, Long Beach, CA 90805 and will require occasional travel to suppliers and other Giga sites.

Responsibilities

Execute POs for metals, busbars, and electrical components based on production schedules

Secure supplier acknowledgments for all POs and immediately resolve discrepancies in price or delivery

Maintain real-time ERP data accuracy for order status, pricing, and quantities

Manage PO revisions, cancellations, and change orders as production needs evolve

Drive daily supplier follow-ups to catch shipping slippage before it impacts the line

Manage open-order reports, proactively chasing overdue and at-risk POs to resolution

Escalate supply risks immediately and coordinate with logistics to resolve transit issues

Participate in production standups as the primary contact for material supply status

Manage the buy plan for long lead-time components, ensuring orders protect the schedule

Monitor risk lists for capacity constraints, single-source exposure, or forecast changes

Partner with planning to convert demand signals into timely POs before lead times become critical

Maintain clean BOM cost data and flag variances between PO prices and standard costs

Review BOMs and specifications to ensure order accuracy and minimize non-conformances

Provide cost and lead-time data to Global Supply Management to inform category strategy

Act as the daily point of contact for suppliers regarding order status and quality issues

Coordinate with Quality on NCRs, replacements, and credits for assigned components

Track and report supplier on-time delivery trends to management

Requirements

4+ years in purchasing or supply chain execution, preferably in industrial manufacturing

Proficiency in managing high-volume POs within an ERP system

Proven ability to expedite late orders through persistent follow-up and organizational skills

Ability to interpret BOMs and technical specs to ensure order accuracy

Strong communication skills and experience with spreadsheets for data tracking

Pay Transparency

The range provided below is the role’s Base Salary range. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Giga and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience and qualifications. Additional benefits include 401(k) plan plus subsidized medical, dental, and vision benefits.

Base Pay Range $100,000 — $140,000 USD
