A driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting people, goods, or materials while maintaining vehicles, planning routes and job assigned to designated location.

Core Responsibilities

  • Operating Vehicles Safely: Drivers must operate lorry in compliance with traffic laws and company policies, ensuring the safety of passengers, and other road users
  • Route Planning and Navigation: Drivers plan routes based on traffic, road conditions, and delivery schedules to ensure timely arrivals. They may use GPS or navigation apps to optimize travel
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Regular vehicle inspections, cleaning, and basic maintenance are required. Drivers report any mechanical issues promptly and ensure vehicles are fueled and ready for use
  • Loading and Unloading: For delivery drivers, safely loading and unloading goods, packages, or equipment is essential. This may require physical strength and proper handling techniques
  • Customer Service: Drivers interact professionally with clients, passengers, or colleagues, providing courteous service and assistance as needed
  1. Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance is part of the role
  • Compliance and Safety: Adhering to safety protocols, emergency procedures, and company policies is critical. Drivers must ensure licenses, insurance, and registration are valid and up to date
  • Coordination with Teams: Drivers often collaborate with logistics, supply chain, or transportation teams to optimize schedules and support operational efficiency
  • Working flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on the role.
  • Assisting with administrative tasks such as picking up office supplies or managing payments
  • Staying informed about local traffic, road conditions, and regulations that may affect travel
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Knowledge of traffic laws and safe driving practices
  • Physical ability to lift and handle cargo when necessary
  • Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with GPS devices and navigation tools
