Key Responsibilities
Backend
Design and implement advanced PostgreSQL schemas with row-level security (RLS) for multi-tenant applications.
Build and maintain async-heavy backend services using Python frameworks (e.g., FastAPI) with Pydantic validation.
Architect scalable data pipelines and orchestrate complex multi-stage data processing workflows.
Implement and enforce data isolation patterns in shared database environments.
Design and manage complex data workflows (e.g., additive data changes, diff detection, and selective re-processing).
Write and maintain OpenAPI contracts that serve as the development spec for cross-functional teams.
Collaborate with AI/LLM Leads on output validation, deterministic data integration, and system reliability.
Cross-functional
Craft code that is performant, testable, scalable, and secure
Provide accurate status tracking, reporting, and estimation
Collaborate with fellow engineers and product leadership to understand requirements
Take ownership from technical design through successful delivery
Minimum Qualifications
Python 5+ years (primary backend language)
PostgreSQL & database architecture (RLS, multi-tenancy, schema design)
FastAPI or equivalent async Python framework
Experience with data pipeline orchestration, ETL processes, and async processing
5+ years total software engineering experience with hands-on work in both backend and data engineering
Experience in engineering software systems of medium-to-large scope and complexity
Contract-first or API-first development – familiarity with OpenAPI, REST API contracts, or similar
Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies
Proficiency with relational databases and SQL
Proficiency in English
Additional Experience Desired
Pydantic & JSON schema validation (for structured backend output)
AWS RDS and managed database services
Multi-tenant SaaS architecture patterns
Docker & containerization
Experience with LLM/AI system integration from a data perspective
AWS IAM and secrets management
Migration tools (Alembic for Python)
Testing strategies for data integrity and security (unit, integration)
Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and AI SDLC
Knowledge of HTTP protocols and serialization formats (JSON, XML)
