The role

Wood is currently looking for a Graduate HSE Officer to join our team in Abu Dhabi. As part of the Global Graduate Program, the HSSE Graduate will gain hands-on experience through rotational assignments across various HSSE-related functions. The role aims to develop a well-rounded understanding of health, safety, sustainability, and environmental practices within both corporate and regional contexts.

The key objectives for this role are

As part of the Global Graduate Program, the HSSE Graduate will gain hands-on experience through rotational assignments across various HSSE-related functions. The role aims to develop a well-rounded understanding of health, safety, sustainability, and environmental practices within both corporate and regional contexts.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities

Take part in structured learning and networking sessions as part of the Global Graduate Programme

Undertake rotations across different HSSE functions, including sustainability, safety operations, environmental compliance, and corporate governance

Collaborate with peers and mentors to develop professional skills and gain exposure to global HSSE practices

Develop a solid understanding of the scope of work of the HSSE management/department, including its operating methods, procedures, and governance requirements

Assist in the preparation, accuracy, and analysis of performance data, reports, and dashboards

Support the organisation of HSSE meetings, workshops, and events, including the production and follow-up of action plans

Contribute to the development, delivery, and monitoring of HSSE training and awareness programmes tailored to project and regional needs

Assist in reviewing incident reports, conducting trend analysis, and supporting the implementation of appropriate preventive and corrective actions

Provide support during internal and external audits to ensure compliance with applicable standards, procedures, and regulations

Collaborate with global and regional HSSE teams (e.g., Middle East and Central HSSE Projects Team) on initiatives such as audits, training, reporting, and data analysis

Contribute to the creation of HSSE communications and materials across different systems and platforms, ensuring effective delivery and record keeping

Support the development, monitoring, and reporting of annual HSSE objectives, assessing progress and effectiveness

Provide assistance to Regional Managers and other stakeholders as required

Expected:

Bachelor degree in HSE or Chemical Engineering

No prior experience is required

Good communication, reporting, and presentation skills

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office to include Excel

Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills

Knowledge of HSE standards and legal requirements
