Senior II Firmware Engineer
Job description
Softeq is looking for a Senior Firmware Engineer in the Embedded Systems department.
We're building new silicon based product: the Nordic nRF7120 (Wi-Fi 6 + Bluetooth LE + companion cellular) running Zephyr via the nRF Connect SDK and looking for the primary Zephyr voice on the team.
This position will require firmware architecting and in collaboration with multi-disciplinary team design and development a single shared business-logic core, serves both, the incumbent STM32 platform and the new Nordic platform for years to come.
Responsibilities:
Own firmware on the nRF7120 / Zephyr NCS platform: DK bring-up, Kconfig + device tree structure, thread topology, little fs storage, MCU boot/DFU; Build native Zephyr connectivity: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth host, and cellular via the Zephyr modem subsystem; Own firmware observability with Memfault: coredumps, metrics, OTA campaigns, alerting — a first-class quality-and-velocity investment for the whole team; Set the bar for firmware quality: host-build CI as a compile firewall, unit-testable C with injectable fakes, replay-harness behavior-preservation; Collaborate with hardware, software, QA, and system engineering teams.
Requirements
8+ years hands-on embedded firmware, including 3+ years shipping production Zephyr / nRF Connect SDK code on real hardware; nRF7120 (rare) or adjacent nRF52/nRF53/nRF91 experience; Production fluency in Kconfig and device tree; Zephyr Bluetooth host with real GATT-service porting, native Zephyr Wi-Fi, cellular over the modem subsystem; Nordic Semiconductor MCU and hardware peripherals experience (e.g. PWM, ADC, DAC, CAN, UART, etc.); West, deep C99/C11, CMake, git; Production Memfault experience; Experience with firmware-level power optimization techniques; You use AI-assisted coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) in daily work; Experience with firmware-level power optimization techniques; Consumer IoT consumer-connected-hardware device firmware background (wearables, trackers, connected devices); Real overlap with CET/EET business hours; a long-term (2+ year) commitment; English language written and verbal communication skills (min. B2 level); Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field.
