Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Regional Accounting Manager to serve as Pine’s financial steward across our Australia and New Zealand operating companies. Reporting directly to the Group Controller (US), this role is the first line of accountability for the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of ANZ financial reporting. The ideal candidate is a technically strong accountant who thrives in a multi-entity, fast-paced environment, can build trusted relationships with OpCo leadership, and knows how to deliver clean, consolidated reporting upstream with minimal noise.
Details
Full-time role reporting to the Group Controller
Location: Remote, Australia-based (AEST/AEDT)
Travel to ANZ operating company sites as needed
What You’ll Do
Monthly Close & Financial Reporting
Own the monthly close calendar for ANZ OpCos, driving on-time, accurate financial submissions into Pine’s consolidation reporting package
Review OpCo trial balances, flux analyses, and income statements prior to submission to the US team, serving as the regional quality gate
Identify and resolve reporting discrepancies, classification issues, and cut-off errors at the source, before escalation
Prepare and maintain AUD-to-USD foreign currency translation workpapers in compliance with ASC 830 / AASB 121
Audit Management
Serve as the primary regional coordinator for both US GAAP consolidation audits and Australian statutory audits, managing requests, timelines, and PBC deliverables across ANZ entities
Liaise with external auditors (local and US-based) on behalf of ANZ OpCos, ensuring fieldwork proceeds efficiently and findings are addressed promptly
Maintain audit-ready workpapers and supporting schedules year-round, not just during audit season
Tax & Statutory Compliance
Coordinate ANZ tax compliance workflows, including GST/BAS lodgements, income tax returns, and payroll tax obligations, in partnership with Pine’s external tax advisors and the US finance team
Monitor entity-level statutory filing deadlines across Australia and New Zealand and ensure timely completion
Support transfer pricing documentation and intercompany transaction substantiation as required
OpCo Partnership & Controls
Act as the primary accounting point of contact for ANZ OpCo finance leads, providing guidance on technical accounting questions, policy application, and reporting requirements
Identify control gaps or process inconsistencies at the OpCo level and work collaboratively to implement improvements
Support new OpCo onboarding and integration into Pine’s reporting infrastructure, including chart of accounts mapping and ERP alignment
US Finance Team Collaboration
Deliver clean, well-documented monthly reporting packages to the Group Controller, flagging material variances, open items, and risks proactively
Participate in consolidation close calls and contribute to management reporting
Support US-side diligence, purchase accounting, and integration workstreams for ANZ acquisitions as needed
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CA (Chartered Accountant) designation strongly preferred
6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including direct experience managing or coordinating across multiple entities
Prior experience in public accounting (Big 4 or mid-tier) strongly valued; audit background preferred
Solid technical grounding in Australian statutory reporting (AASB standards), GST/BAS compliance, and payroll tax frameworks
Working knowledge of US GAAP, particularly consolidation (ASC 810), revenue recognition (ASC 606), and foreign currency (ASC 830), or demonstrated ability to work within a US GAAP reporting environment
Experience with ERP platforms (Business Central, MYOB, Acumatica, or similar); comfort navigating multiple systems
Strong attention to detail with a bias toward clean, well-organized deliverables
Self-directed and comfortable operating across time zones with limited day-to-day supervision
Clear, confident communicator, able to translate accounting issues for non-accounting OpCo stakeholders and escalate the right things to a US-based leadership team
What Makes This Role Unique
This isn’t a routine close-and-report role. You’ll be embedded across a dynamic, growing portfolio of ANZ businesses at different stages of maturity, operating in a PE-backed environment where things move quickly and no two months look the same. You’ll have real ownership of a region, a direct line to the Group Controller, and meaningful exposure to cross-border M&A, audit, and systems work. If you’re motivated by variety, accountability, and building something, this role is for you.
