We’re Hiring – Mail Sorters!
Pertemps is currently recruiting Mail Sorters to join the team at Royal Mail’s Truro Mail Centre on a temporary assignment. No previous mail-sorting experience is required, as full training will be provided .
The Role
As a Mail Sorter, you will play an important part in ensuring mail and parcels are processed and dispatched efficiently. Your duties will include:
- Sorting incoming and outgoing mail and parcels
- Loading and unloading mail cages and containers
- Moving mail safely around the site
- Preparing mail for dispatch
- Working to deadlines to ensure mail is processed efficiently
- Following all health, safety and security procedures
- Keeping your working area clean, safe and organised
Working Hours
Late Shifts: Typically between 14:00 and 22:00 Night Shifts: Typically between 22:00 and 05:00
Please note: This vacancy is for late and night shifts only . Shifts can start at any time between 14:00 and 22:00 and are typically 4–6 hours , depending on operational requirements. Candidates must be available and willing to work within these hours .

You don't need previous experience in mail sorting — we're looking for people with the right attitude and a willingness to learn. We're looking for candidates who are:
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Physically fit, as the role involves standing, walking and moving mail
- Able to work effectively as part of a team
- Flexible and willing to get stuck in
- Available to commit to the required shift pattern
- Ideally equipped with their own safety boots and high-visibility vest

Shift times may vary slightly depending on the location and operational requirements. Flexibility is essential , and candidates should be prepared to work different shift patterns, including weekends where required. Evening: Finishes between 20:00–21:39. Pay rate is £14.38 per hour. Lates: Finishes between 21:40–01:59. Pay rate is £15.14 per hour. Nights: Three hours across 23:00-05:00. Pay rate is £16.44 per hour.
