Chief Financial Officer
Bristol Area - Part-Time (2 Days Per Week) - Hybrid Working - Circa £50,000 FTE
Are you an experienced charity finance professional looking for a senior leadership role that offers genuine flexibility and autonomy?
Our client, a well-established and growing charity, is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the finance function and provide strategic financial guidance to the CEO and Board. This is a stand-alone finance role, offering the opportunity to influence organisational strategy whilst remaining involved in the day-to-day financial management of the organisation.
Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will ensure the charity remains financially robust, compliant and well-positioned for future growth. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced charity finance professional seeking a flexible, part-time position with significant responsibility and influence.
Key Responsibilities will include
- Lead the finance function across the charity and its trading subsidiary
- Produce monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts and cashflow reporting
- Present financial information, analysis and recommendations to the CEO and Board
- Manage restricted and unrestricted funding in accordance with charity accounting principles
- Oversee year-end accounts and external audit processes
- Ensure compliance with Charity Commission, Companies House and HMRC requirements
- Support funding bids, business planning and strategic decision-making
- Review and improve finance systems, controls and reporting processes
The successful candidate will have previous finance experience within the charity sector and a strong understanding of charity accounting, restricted funding and financial reporting. I’d love to hear from individuals currently working as a Chief Financial Officer, Finance Director, Head of Finance, Financial Controller, Charity Finance Manager or Senior Finance Manager.
Professional accountancy qualifications are not essential, although AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent qualifications, whether completed or in progress, would be welcomed. More important is your ability to operate independently, communicate effectively with non-finance stakeholders and provide confident financial leadership.
This role offers exceptional flexibility, with a requirement to attend the office for only a small portion of your working week. The remaining hours can be worked flexibly around your commitments.
If you're an experienced charity finance professional looking for a flexible senior leadership opportunity within the not-for-profit sector, we'd love to hear from you.
