About the Role

Steve Tate & Sons Plumbing is seeking a skilled and reliable Plumbing Retrofit Technician to join our growing team specializing in overnight remodels and retrofits for grocery stores. This is a critical, high-impact role focused on upgrading plumbing systems in active retail environments during off-hours to minimize disruption to store operations.

This position is ideal for experienced plumbers who prefer working nights, enjoy fast-paced project work, and take pride in delivering clean, efficient retrofits under tight timelines.

Key Responsibilities

Perform plumbing retrofits, repairs, and system upgrades in grocery store environments

Work overnight shifts to complete projects within strict time windows

Install, modify, and replace piping, fixtures, drains, and water systems

Read and interpret blueprints, specs, and retrofit plans

Ensure all work meets code requirements and company quality standards

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site

Coordinate with team members, project managers, and store personnel

Travel to job sites as needed (regional projects, occasional overnight stays)

Qualifications

3+ years of commercial plumbing experience (retrofit/remodel experience strongly preferred)

Ability to work overnight shifts consistently

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Comfortable working in active retail environments with tight deadlines

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in physically demanding conditions

NC plumbing license (preferred but not required)
