Automation Engineer

Education and experience requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Systems Engineering, or a relevant engineering discipline

7 years of related experience in the assigned field of engineering, with exposure to project management and contractor management

Core technical skills and industry knowledge

Strong knowledge of instrument and control / instrument engineering and industrial instrument and control

Project management skills

Knowledge of operations in petrochemical plants and related products

Health, safety and security management skills

Conceptual and analytical skills

Inventory management skills

Key responsibilities and deliverables

Execute all automation engineering aspects of assigned work for instrument and control systems in line with defined plans and quality standards

Work according to established company policies and procedures, industry norms and best practices, using own initiative to answer technical queries and resolve problems

Determine work methods from alternative existing methods in accordance with specialized policies and professional standards

Lead a team of contractors to achieve unit objectives in line with HSE and quality standards

Deliver work assignments which will be reviewed by the principal automation engineer

Work independently most of the time and/or as part of an integrated project, investigation, review, and audit team

Plan, monitor, and coordinate all instrument and control systems engineering design; review instrument and control scope of assigned work, ensuring system architecture and configuration meet specifications

Ensure instrument and control engineering activities are executed according to specification and within budget

Carry out technical reviews for all areas of instrument and control engineering, evaluating requests, recommending appropriate solutions, and proposing changes as necessary
